Woman charged in assault after dinner date’s late

GREENSBORO - An acquaintance’s tardiness apparently sparked violence over the weekend, and now a 37-year-old Greensboro woman is in trouble with the law.

According to a news release from Greensboro police, a man was stabbed after he showed up late to dinner Saturday. The victim was not seriously injured, the release said.

Day care worker charged in death of 4-year-old boy

ROCKY MOUNT - A day care worker is charged with killing a 4-year-old boy she had just taken home, after an argument with the child’s mother ended with the worker driving her car into the family’s porch, police said.

Rebecca Neville is charged with felony death by motor vehicle and driving while impaired.

Authorities said the charge may be upgraded because they believe she intended to harm the family.

Police Capt. Martin McCoy said Keligah Randolph and three siblings had spent Friday night at two Dee’s Christian Day Care Centers in Rocky Mount while their mother, Stephannie Randolph, worked an evening shift at a restaurant. Neville drove the children home early Saturday, but Randolph became angry because Neville was not on a list of people approved to transport the children, investigators said.

The women argued on the porch as the children played around them, and then Neville got back in her car and drove it into the front porch, police said. Keligah, on the steps, took the brunt of the impact and was pronounced dead a short time later at Nash General Hospital.
