Ohio firefighter falls through floor

MT. AUBURN, Ohio — A Cincinnati firefighter who fell through the floor of a vacant building this morning is OK, fire officials said.

The firefighter, whose name has not been released, fell at 4:29 a.m. while fighting a fire in the building, said Cincinnati District Fire Chief Fred Prather.

The fire was first reported at Main Street and Schiller Avenue at 3:32 a.m., dispatch reports state.

When fire crews arrived, flames were shooting from the building and they found heavy fire inside on the second, third and fourth floors of the four-story building.

The bulk of the fire was under control in 30 minutes.

The firefighter was injured when his legs went through a hole in the fourth-story floor. He was treated at the scene. No other injuries were reported.

Damage is estimated at $100,000.
