HOUSTON — Firefighters have gained the upper hand on a fire at the LyondellBasell plant in southeast Houston. Meanwhile, nearby residents have been asked to shelter in place.
The plant is at 12000 Lawndale at Highway 225. A LyondellBassell representative told Eyewitness News that emergency procedures have been enacted and emergency personnel are responding.
He said the fire started around 2:30pm in the crude distillation unit that takes in crude oil to begin the upgrade process to gasoline.
