Tenn. firefighter dies after responding to brush fire

The 20-year veteran’s line-of-duty death was the first in the county

CARTERS VALLEY, Tenn. — A Tenn. firefighter died in the line of duty Sunday evening after he responded to a brush fire.

Carters Valley Volunteer Fire Department Firefighter David Schnepp, 43, died sometime after battling the blaze, according to the Times-News.

Firefighter Schnepp, a 20-year veteran had been with CVVFD for three years after he serving with two other departments.

Hawkins County Emergency Management Agency Director Gary Murrell told the newspaper that Firefighter Schnepp’s death is the first LODD of a firefighter in the county.

More details are set to be released Monday evening.
