KANSAS CITY, Mo. — A fiery crash involving an overturned tractor-trailer truck has closed the southbound lanes of Interstate 35 near Kansas City’s downtown loop.
The wreck was reported shortly before 7 a.m. Tuesday just south of the Southwest Trafficway exit near the Cambridge Circle exit. The interstate is expected to be closed for several hours while repairs to the roadway are made.
When firefighters arrived on the scene, large flames could be seen shooting from out of the overturned semi truck. Crews used foam to put out the fire. Firefighters say the truck was hauling heavy rock and some of the rock was thrown out of the vehicle. Six other cars were hit by the debris.
