LODD: N.C. fire chief dies after response

Ricky Wooten Doub, 61, responded to a call during the day and was later found dead in his home

YADKINVILLE, N.C. — A fire chief was found dead in his home Tuesday after earlier responding to an EMS and fire call.

The U.S. Fire Administration reported that Chief Ricky Wooten Doub, 61, has been a member of the Forbush Volunteer Fire Department for 29 years and was the fire chief for the last eight years.

He leaves behind his wife and several nieces, nephews and other family members.

A funeral service for Chief Doub will be held 11 a.m. on Friday, Dec. 19 at Baltimore United Methodist Church. Memorials can be made to Baltimore United Methodist Church Building Fund, c/o Kelly Speer, 2419 Baltimore Road, East Bend, N.C. 27018.

A nature and cause of death is still to be determined.
