PARAMUS, N.J. — A firefighter and former fire chief died Sept. 23 after being found unresponsive at his home.
The U.S. Fire Administration reported that firefighter Shawn Benson, 50, with the Paramus (N.J.) Fire Department died several hours after responding to a local restaurant for a fire alarm.
Firefighter Benson was transported to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
He was a 32-year fire service veteran.
A fire department service will be held Monday at 8:00 p.m. at Vander Plaat Memorial Home, 13 S. Farview Ave., Paramus, N.J.
A funeral mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 29 at Our Lady of the Visitation Church, 234 N. Farview Ave, Paramus, N.J.
Flowers are welcomed or memorial contributions in firefighter Benson’s memory may be made to a charity of your choice.
