COVENTRY, R.I. — The Central Coventry (R.I.) Fire Department board will appoint Peter Lamb as the district’s new chief to replace interim Chief Shawn Murray.
“Chief Lamb has an extensive background and experience in a number of critical fire service qualifications which will assist the district in moving forward,” CCFD President Frank Gralinski told WPRI.
Lamb has served as a fire chief for eight years, is a former director of the Massachusetts Fire Academy and served as an emergency management director for 10 years. Murray’s employment agreement is set to expire Nov. 30.
“I am looking forward to working with the dedicated and professional firefighters and officers of the Central Coventry Fire District,” Lamb said. “Early in my career I was a firefighter in the Harris Fire District, which is now part of the Central Coventry Fire District.”
The district had financial problems for years and filed for bankruptcy last December after city officials failed to reach an agreement to solve the problem. In September, a judge approved a motion to dismiss the district’s bankruptcy case.
