PROSPECT PARK, Pa. — Prospect Park Fire Chief Jim Simmonds resigned after sharing a social media post with “ill-mannered remarks” following the assassination attempt on former President Donald Trump in Butler, Pennsylvania.

The post Simmonds referenced seems to be deleted, but screenshots in the Citizens of Delco Facebook group show a post from Simmonds that says, “A little to the right next time please,” CBS Pittsburgh reported.

The now-former Americus Hose Company fire captain made a post on X related to the attempted assassination of former President Donald Trump

“I made a terrible mistake in posting an unprofessional post on Facebook,” Simmonds wrote in the Facebook group. “I meant no harm to anyone and an attempted assassination of a former US President is no laughing matter.”

The former chief apologized to the fire company, Prospect Park councilmembers and residents, expressing remorse and stating he meant no harm. He added that he was sorry for bringing negative attention to Prospect Park Borough and the fire company.
