OMAHA, Neb. — A fire battalion fire chief has been placed on paid administrative leave until an investigation has been completed into questionable posts on his personal Facebook page.

Battalion Chief Joe Salcedo “shared potentially inappropriate content on his personal Facebook page,” according to a news release from the fire department.

His Facebook page is not publicly accessible, but the Omaha World-Herald received screengrabs of the posts, which they reported as saying “President Barack Obama is a ‘cop-hating terrorist, and so is the (Black Lives Matter) movement.’”

The Omaha Professional Fire Fighters Association has reportedly disavowed the posts.

“Mr. Salcedo has broken and offended the very code that defines us and our duty to public safety,” association President Steve LeClair said in a statement.

According to the World-Herald, Salcedo is the second public safety official in Omaha investigated due to social media posts about Black Lives Matter.

Omaha Police Officer Bryan Kulhanek is on paid leave after several questionable social media posts were made public last month.

The World-Herald reports that Salcedo’s posts appeared to have been shared on his Facebook page, rather than created by him.
