Vt. firefighter fights insurance loophole after claim denied

The firefighter fractured his ankle and foot and shattered his heel, and hoped the department’s insurance would pay workers compensation

COLCHESTER, Vt. — Some Vermont volunteer firefighters are warning other firefighters to be careful.

That’s because a Colchester firefighter says an insurance loophole is preventing him from receiving help after he was hurt.

Colchester volunteer firefighter Jason Stech was working on insulation in the station garage in June.
