2 NJ firefighters assaulted by patient

The firefighters were treated for cuts and bruises to their faces and arms

PATERSON, N.J. — Two firefighters were assaulted by a patient Thursday morning in the back of an ambulance.

NorthJersey.com reported that the firefighters, with the Paterson (N.J.) Fire Department, who were working as EMTs at the time, responded to a report of an unconscious person. The firefighters woke up the man and as they were treating him he allegedly began punching them.

Police later subdued the patient and handcuffed him to the stretcher.

All three were taken to a hospital. The firefighters were treated for cuts and bruises to their faces and arms.
