Officer Nick Allender’s colleague initiated the stop; Sarah Stewart thought she was just being pulled over

RAPID CITY, S.D. — A police officer made a fake traffic stop to propose to his firefighter-paramedic girlfriend.

FOX8.com reported that Rapid City (S.D.) police officer Nick Allender was able to propose to his girlfriend, Rapid City firefighter-paramedic Sarah Stewart, with the help of his colleague. The moment was captured on his dash camera.

Allender’s colleague initiated the stop, asking Stewart to sit inside his patrol car while he ran her information. As she approached the car, Allender got out and got down on one knee. Stewart said “yes.”

“I knew the engagement was coming,” Stewart said. “We had talked about it, but I had no idea that it would be like that. I honestly thought I was just being pulled over.”
