OCEAN CITY, Md. — A family of volunteer firefighters is asking for help after a trip to the shore turned tragic.
“I’m just really scared and worried right now,” said Amy Yurchak, who phoned 69 News from a hospital in Maryland. There, her husband, Mike, is in a medically-induced coma, facing a severe brain injury caused during a jet skiing crash last Tuesday. He and his 14-year-old daughter were riding together in the Ocean City bay when they collided with another jet ski.
“They both went flying. She remembers being hit and she went under the water. When she came back up, she yelled for her dad and did not get a response. She looked over and saw him floating,” said Amy, who had been riding on a jet ski with the couple’s other daughter.
