WILLIAMSBURG TOWNSHIP, Ohio — A firefighter had to be resuscitated Saturday night after suffering a heart problem while fighting a house fire.
Fox19.com reported that Lt. David Knapke, 55, was assisting crews when he developed the issue.
Firefighters on scene were able to resuscitate Lt. Knapke and he was flown to a hospital, according to the report. Fire officials said that he is in stable condition.
Doctors found no blockages and confirmed that his heart was functioning properly, and weren’t sure why he went into cardiac arrest, according to the report.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation. Officials said if the cause is found to be arson, whoever set the fire could also face charges related to Knapke’s injury.
