NEW YORK — Firefighters saved a 28-year-old man from drowning in the Hudson River Wednesday. The man apparently set out to commit suicide by leaping off a pier into the 39-degree river.
Civilians nearby threw the man a life preserver, which he clung to until firefighters arrived, according to the New York Daily News.
Divers from Rescue 1 in Manhattan made the save.
