SALEM, Va. — A Salem man was arrested Friday on charges of possessing child pornography and having an inappropriate relationship with a minor.
Eric Mallory, 31, was indicted by a Salem grand jury on Friday on 14 counts, including possession of child pornography and taking indecent liberties with a minor, according to a news release from Salem police.
Mallory previously was arrested by Salem police on March 8 and was charged with taking indecent liberties with a minor. The news release said that an investigation was initiated by a complaint that Mallory was suspected of having an inappropriate relationship with a female younger than 16 in his home.
During the course of that investigation, a second victim was identified who was also younger than 16.Mallory was taken into custody Friday morning without incident, the release said.
He was charged with five counts of possession of child pornography, three counts of taking indecent liberties with a minor, three counts of sodomy, two counts of aggravated sexual battery and one count of object sexual penetration.
Mallory is being held without bond in the Roanoke County-Salem Jail, according to the release.
Mallory was formerly a member of the Fort Lewis Volunteer Fire Department. Roanoke County Fire and Rescue spokeswoman Jennifer Conley Sexton said Mallory resigned earlier this week. She said he already had been on administrative leave from the fire department because of the March 8 charges.
