BARNSTABLE, Mass. — A Massachusetts man was acquitted of all charges from a December 2014 crash that killed an off-duty firefighter.
The Boston Herald reported a jury found Paul Dennehy not guilty of motor vehicle homicide in the crash that killed Westfield, Mass. firefighter Kevin Regan. Regan and his girlfriend were crossing the street after dinner on Dec. 27 when Dennehy struck the pair, killing Regan and injuring his girlfriend.
Police officers testified Dennehy was intoxicated at the scene but witnesses said he did not appear to be under the influence. Dennehy refused a blood test after he was arrested.
The results of the breathalyzer were not admissible as evidence in the case.
