BERKELEY COUNTY, S.C. — An off-duty firefighter was injured Saturday in an incident that is being described as an accident involving a firearm.
Police said a man was cleaning a gun when it discharged and went through his hand and then struck his brother, a firefighter, in the leg, the Post and Courier reports.
The firefighter was taken to the hospital and had surgery because the bullet hit an artery, according to the report. The firefighter remained in intensive care Sunday, officials said.
No further investigation is planned.
