Pa. fire departments fundraise for injured firefighter

Nick Weaver fell off a roof while battling a fire, breaking his back and suffering multiple injuries

BENSALEM TOWNSHIP, Pa. — Two fire departments are raising funds for a firefighter who was seriously injured while battle a house fire May 21.

Firefighter and EMT Nick Weaver fell 35 feet from a roof and suffered back fractures along with injuries to his neck and head. He was responding to a call as a volunteer with the Nottingham Fire Department; he is a career firefighter with the Bensalem Fire Rescue and a part-time EMT with Bensalem EMS, reported FOX29.

Weaver’s inability to work has placed a financial strain on him and his fiance, Erin, who have postponed planning their wedding. Erin is Weaver’s primary caregiver, leaving the couple without a steady income.

As a result, the departments have set up a fund at a T.D. Bank “as a way for friends and family to show their love and support for two honest, hardworking and incredible people, who mean everything to us,” Chief Robert Sponheimer said.

Donations can be made via Weaver’s GoFundMe page or at any TD Bank with checks payable to: Nick Weaver Benefit Fund. All donations will go directly to the couple.
