CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — A firefighter-medic was honored for his off-duty heroism Tuesday after rushing to stop a carjacking.
“I heard somebody yelling for help. I thought there was a child involved. I wasn’t going to let the car take off if there was, just one thing lead to another,” said firefighter-medic Jon Dodge. “There was other people involved too. I was just the one that stopped the car and got in and pulled the person out.”
Dodge received a commendation award from the Corpus Christi Fire Department for his efforts. He witnessed the crime on Sept. 30 at an area convenience store and held the alleged carjacker until police arrived, according to the KiiiTV.com.
