ELMWOOD PARK, N.J. — A New Jersey fire captain died in his sleep on Tuesday after responding to a snow emergency call.

Elmwood Park Fire Department Fire Captain Kenneth Adamo, 48, was on emergency standby after the New Jersey governor declared the state part of the East Coast snow emergency. He responded to a smoke detector sounding.

After he returned from duty, the volunteer firefighter of 28 years went to sleep and was found dead in his bed the next morning. Adamo is suspected to have suffered a heart attack in the night.
