ALPINE TOWNSHIP, Mich. — A volunteer firefighter who allegedly used his emergency lights during a dispute on the roadway was suspended Monday.
Investigators say the firefighter from Alpine Township, Mich., got frustrated after a driver of a pickup truck was driving recklessly, according to mlive.com.
The driver of the pickup truck, Jacob Stiles, told WZZM that the firefighter used emergency lights and sirens in an attempt to get him to pull over.
“I looked over to my buddy and said ‘I’m not about to pull over. That’s not a cop,’” he said.
Alpine Township Fire Chief Ron Christians said the firefighter was not trying to impersonate a police officer, but still should not have used his emergency lights and violated department policy.
The firefighter, who was not identified, will remain suspended until the investigation is completed.
