MANSFIELD, Ohio — The city’s safety forces could be getting some extra help to do their jobs.
Prior to Tuesday’s Mansfield City Council meeting, Safety-Service Director Keith Porch held a demonstration of DFR technology for members. DFR stands for Drones As a First Responder.
Council watched a drone exit a box on the roof outside the City Garden Cafe on the municipal building’s third floor.
“This is technology that we will be testing and evaluating for one year,” Porch said. “After that year, we’ll come together to decide if the technology is a valuable asset to the city, to the (police and fire) divisions, and whether to continue on.”
