Extrication Solutions Save Time & Lives with Packexe SMASH®

Packexe SMASH® is a time critical glass management product that is used within the fire & rescue industry for extrication at road side collisions. It supports the quick and easy rescue of the passengers as the film reduces the risk of the glass breaking and allows the fire fighters to remove the glass quickly in one piece.

Packexe specialises in protection films and Packexe SMASH® was produced after a request was made by a fire fighter that used Packexe protection film in his part time painting and decorating job. He advised that if our current films could be developed into a safety glass management product then it would be an ideal and innovative extrication solution to replace the current ‘soft protection’ methods that consist of sheets, shields and bags.

Packexe worked with UK Fire Stations for two and half years testing and developing a product that will enable them to improve and speed up extrication at road side collisions. Packexe SMASH® was then launched at the UK Fire & Rescue Show at the NEC in Birmingham in May 2009. Since then, Packexe SMASH® has been used at many International Fire & Rescue Challenges and has gone from strength to strength.

CEO Andrew Orchard said “Here at Packexe we pride ourselves on innovation and producing products that will enable the highest standard of protection with an undisputed and unmatched ease of use. Packexe SMASH® is an extension of this innovation and it is fantastic that we have been able to work with fire fighters and produce something exactly to their specification”.

Packexe SMASH® is becoming increasingly popular and has been positively received by fire and rescue departments around the world with a significant amount of interest generated at FDIC in Indianapolis in April. Packexe SMASH® aim to increase awareness of their critical glass management product and demonstrate it at Interschutz 2010 in Leipzig.
