Emergency responders who are looking for a way to be able to transport patients off the beaten path – or directly from a dusty, beaten path deep in the woods – should take a look at Kimtek’s Medlite Transport Basic (MTB-10). The MTB 10 is a patient and EMT transport unit designed to turn your UTV into a miniature ambulance to be able to get a patient to medical care from any environment in any weather condition.

“The MTB-10 is another tool for EMS services to better utilize their equipment in the field,” Kimball Johnson, president of Kimtek and a 15-year EMT, said. “It allows them to provide better service and care to our patients wherever they are.”

The MTB-10 is made from rust-proof aluminum and can carry one patient on a stokes basket or long board, with room for one EMS attendant. The EMT seat is a fixed position with a seat belt.

The MTB-10 can fit most major UTV models, including the Polaris Ranger, Kubota RTV900, and Kawasaki Mule. The long board or stokes basket are attached to the UTV using 10 Velcro D loop straps The straps are included, although the board or stokes basket are not. The MTB-10 also features an adjustable end point to accept a long board or a longer stokes basket.

According to Kimtek, the MTB-10 was designed by firefighters and EMTs for use by any emergency responder. The design was specifically created to make medical care, in rugged, off-road conditions, during transport possible and accessible. The transport unit’s applications can include medical rescue and transportation or to bring a third person during search and rescue ops.

“We use the MTB-10 to cover 20 miles of snowmobile trails. We just responded on tracks with the unit to reach a snowmobile accident three miles into the woods. We located the rider, assessed his injuries, and was able to bring him out on the Medlite board,” Johnson said.

The MTB-10 has also been deployed at large events, including NASCAR races and the Superbowl, its mobility allowing it to navigate and remove patients from large crowds.

The MTB-10 comes fully assembled and is priced at $2,400. Kimtek products are used in over 725 medlite, firelite, and EUV units in 49 states.
