DETROIT — Firefighters used extrication tools to free an EMS worker from the rapid response vehicle after it was broadsided by another vehicle.
The accident happened just after 8 a.m. Wednesday on Linwood just north of Glendale Street on the city’s west side. EMS Chief Jerald James said the rapid response vehicle was traveling to another scene when it was struck by a sedan.
“Our crew was responding to an emergency call and they did have their lights and sirens activated,” James told WWJ’s Vickie Thomas. “Unfortunately, as they entered the intersection, they were struck broadside by a passenger vehicle.”
