SHREVEPORT, La. — A second Shreveport fire truck rolled over Tuesday, leaving one firefighter injured.

Shreveport Assistant Fire Chief Fred Sanders told KSLA firefighters were responding to a call when they attempted to make room for a passing vehicle, causing the rig to fall into a ditch. The passing vehicle drove away from the scene.

“SPD is investigating. We do know this is a narrow road, there is no curb,” Chief Sanders said. “If you go off the road here, you’re in a ditch. That’s what happened with Engine 6.”

Three firefighters were in the rig at the time of the crash. The injured firefighter was transported to the hospital for minor injuries. The chief said the firefighter operating the truck was not the normal driver.

The crash remains under investigation.

This is the second rollover incident in the last two days. Another fire truck overturned Monday, leaving two firefighters injured. One firefighter is still recovering in the hospital.
