HENRIETTA, Texas — A blaze damaged three fire trucks at a fire station Saturday night.
NewsChannel6Now.com reported that Chief Mike Hall, with Lake Arrowhead Volunteer Fire Department, said the fire started around 7 p.m. Chief Hall believes the blaze may have sparked following welding work earlier in the day.
“It’s been one of my biggest nightmares,” Chief Hall said. He said that for years he’s asked himself what he’d do if the call he hoped would never come, does. “And now it’s happened. You can’t prepare yourself for it.”
Two neighboring departments helped Lake Arrowhead extinguish the blaze. There were no injuries and a total amount of damage is still being calculated.
“There’s no way we could survive without the other departments,” Chief Hall said. “Our membership is so low things get big really fast. You just can’t handle it by yourself. Usually we’ve always got somebody we can call to help.”
Chief Hall said the department is “crippled but not dead.”
“Tomorrow morning we’ll start making calls,” he said.
Some departments have offered to loan the department a truck to use. A GoFundMe page has been started to help the department rebuild the building and repair equipment, trucks and gear.
