Ariz. fire truck, vehicles collide; 4 hurt

One adult and three children were injured; two of the injured were listed in serious condition

PHOENIX, Ariz. — A Phoenix fire truck collided with two other vehicles Sunday night, sending four people to the hospital.

AZ Central reported that the engine and cars crashed at about 7 p.m. near an intersection. According to fire officials, the truck had its lights and sirens on and was responding to a call when one of the cars turned in front of it.

One adult and three children were injured. The adult and one of the children are considered to be in serious condition.

“We carry 500 gallons of water plus tons of equipment in these vehicles and they’re very, very hard to stop,” Fire Capt. Ardell Deliz said. “Even at 10 mph, which to a lot of people doesn’t sound like a large amount of speed, it’s a lot of force to stop it.”

No firefighters were hurt.
