PORTAGE, Ind. — A crash Monday afternoon involving a Burns Harbor Fire Department truck was caused by a second driver, according to police.
A crash report released Tuesday by the Portage Police Department said Cindy Tully, 56, of Portage, was driving a 2009 Chevrolet Aveo northbound on the Willocreek Road Bypass when she failed to maneuver a curve and crossed the center line, striking the fire department’s ladder truck.
According to the report, Burns Harbor firefighter Ray Wesley was driving the ladder truck under the posted speed limit and attempted to steer out of the path of the Aveo, even sounding his air horn, but could not avoid the collision.
