HOPE MILLS, N.C. ― A Stoney Point Fire Department pickup truck collided with a car Tuesday, leaving a woman and baby injured.
The fire truck was responding to a call when it collided with another vehicle while crossing an intersection, reported the Fay Observer.
The crash knocked the front off the fire truck and sent the vehicle onto an embankment of a shopping center, where it was wedged between two parked vehicles.
The truck, used for emergency medical purposes, responded to the call under an automatic vehicle locator system, in which the closed public safety unit it dispatched to a call, regardless of the jurisdiction.
The woman’s and baby’s injuries did not appear to be life-threatening. No firefighter injuries were reported.
