ST. MARY’S COUNTY, Md. — A rescue engine crashed while responding to a call and left five firefighters with minor injuries Sunday.
SMNewsNet.com reported that while responding to the call, the engine lost control and struck a guardrail. It continued down an embankment and came to a rest on its roof. Rescue Engine 141 from Newburg Volunteer Fire Department was responding to a motor vehicle crash when the accident occurred, according to the report.
When the rig turned onto a highway, the driver encountered a sheet of ice and spun the engine out of control, according to the report. No other vehicles were involved in the accident.
Five members were on board, and all were transported to an area hospital to be checked out for non-life threatening injuries, according to the report. At least one minor injury was reported, but all were later released from the hospital.
