EFFINGHAM, N.H. — Wires were knocked down and a state highway was closed after a fire truck rolled over Wednesday.
WMUR reported that Effingham Fire Chief Randy Burbank was alone in the truck and was going to a nearby station.
A witness said she saw Chief Burbank climbing out of the broken side window. He suffered some bumps and bruises but is otherwise OK, according to the report.
The truck was damaged beyond repair and utility crews were putting up a new telephone pole by mid-afternoon.
The crash is under investigation, but officials believe Chief Burbank hit ice or slush while rounding a corner. He lost control, slid into the pole and flipped the rig over.
