JERSEY CITY, N.J. — An SUV driven by a pregnant woman collided with a Jersey City fire truck that was responding to an alarm at City Hall yesterday morning at the intersection of Marin Boulevard and Sixth Street, officials said.

The fire truck left department headquarters shortly before 10:30 a.m. and was heading south on Marin Boulevard when it was struck by the Mazda, which was heading east on Sixth Street, Fire Director Armando Roman said.

An ambulance responded and EMTs checked out the woman, who is five months pregnant, and found she did not need medical attention, Roman said.

The fire truck had its lights and siren activated when it was crossing the intersection against the light and the SUV slammed into it, hitting the area of the truck’s right front wheel, Roman said.

The SUV suffered heavy damage and the fire truck suffered a flat tire and some other damage, Roman said, adding that both vehicles had to be towed away.

The SUV driver said she did not hear the sirens, Roman said, adding that the alarm at City Hall turned out to be nothing.
