COLUMBIA, S.C. — South Carolina Highway Patrol officials are investigating an accident in which a Columbia Fire Department fire truck rolled over in a one-vehicle accident, sending the driver to the hospital.
Cpl. Sonny Collins, a highway patrol spokesman, said the accident occurred just after 9:45 a.m. when the firefighter attempted to make a left turn from Bluff Road onto South Cedar Creek Road. As the firefighter made the turn, the fire truck went off the roadway and rolled over.
Collins said the firefighter was transported to a local hospital and is in stable condition at this time.
The South Carolina Highway Patrol will continue to investigate the incident.
