NEW YORK — A man tried to steal an FDNY fire truck after crashing his rental truck into seven vehicles and seriously injuring four people Sunday afternoon.

NY Daily News reported that Devon Brandon, a convicted gun dealer who was on parole, caused the crash that injured nine people. After the crash, Brandon jumped into the driver’s side of an FDNY fire truck, with a firefighter still in the seat.

In a video posted by a man hurt in the crash, several firefighters can be seeing mobbing the door, reaching inside to pull the man out as he struggled with them. Cops said Brandon slammed one firefighter’s head and body into the fire truck’s front console, according to the report.

Police found cocaine and marijuana on the floor and in a backpack of Brandon’s rental truck. He was charged with felony reckless endangerment and assault, as well as drug-impaired driving, drug possession and refusing to take a breath test.
