Video: Firefighter uses own SCBA to save dogs in ‘Burn’ doc

Burn filmmakers continue to look for financial backing to take the film mainstream

Producers of the film “Burn” are looking for enough money to take it out of film festivals and into wide distribution, and they may get a boost from a heart-rendering clip is beginning to go viral.

In addition to Youtube, some mainstream media outlets are reporting on one scene from the documentary, which follows the Detroit Fire Department as it battles fires in the blighted city.

The clip shows a resident frantically telling firefighters that his two dogs are still inside his burning house. Firefighters retrieve the limp dogs and lay them in the yard. One firefighter uses his SCBA to give the dogs a burst of fresh air.

The dogs both revive and so to does the resident’s appreciation for the fire department.

It remains to be seen if this web clip and the press exposure it is generating will help raise money for the film’s distribution, though it very well could. It should also be a nice boost for the reputation of Detroit firefighters.
