LAKEVILLE, MN – San Diego Medical Services Enterprise (SDMSE), a partnership between San Diego Fire and Rural Metro, has had requests from other services to provide the TapChart solution developed and used by San Diego Fire for the past several years. While several manufacturers have attempted to develop a handheld electronic Patient Care Report (ePCR) solution, TapChart’s intuitive and straightforward interface has been the most successful.
SDMSE realized that TapChart’s existing Palm Operating System required an update and an administrative platform for data aggregation with analysis and reporting. Distribution and support for a national footprint also required an experienced software company. Impressed with ImageTrend’s existing ePCR products, and particularly their customer service approach, SDMSE found their partner. ImageTrend was pleased to begin this relationship with this widely recognized product.
“ImageTrend had been investigating the Windows Mobile platform as the means of meeting user expectations. We are excited about this partnership and feel the practical usage and experience SDMSE had with TapChart will be a natural extension for our existing products and vision.”
- Mike McBrady, President of ImageTrend
The SDMSE and ImageTrend partnership utilizes their combined experience to develop the new Windows Mobile -based TapChart, which is fully integrated into the popular EMS Field Bridge and EMS Service Bridge suite from ImageTrend. This will allow all EMS (Emergency Medical Services) field personnel, including first responders, to submit relevant ePCR data. The processes are streamlined, non-redundant and affordable.
“The TapChart vision started at San Diego Fire and has evolved into an award-winning concept and solution, which we want to share with other services across the nation. Although we may have slightly differing approaches, we all seek to improve patient care with standardization and good documentation.”
- John Pringle, Electronic Documentation Leader, City of San Diego Fire and Rescue
San Diego Fire and Rural Metro will continue to utilize TapChart, with the addition of the EMS Service Bridge Suite, for their day-to-day operations. TapChart will be an integral part of the software solutions provided by ImageTrend, beginning with EMS Bridge Version 4.0, which will be released early 2009.
