Medic who flipped patient off stretcher gets 1 year probation

The medic pleaded no contest and signed away his paramedic certification; patient speaks about the incident

ROCKLEDGE, Fla. — A paramedic seen tipping a patient over on a stretcher has been sentenced to one year of probation, WESH.com reports.

Paramedic Kenneth Hallenbeck, 35, was transporting a 48-year-old patient in February when the patient allegedly tried to get off the stretcher. The two got into an argument in the triage department of Weustoff Hospital in Rockledge, and Hallenbeck is accused of flipping the stretcher, dumping the patient onto the floor.

Hallenbeck was charged with elderly/disabled abuse, but his charges were reduced to a misdemeanor because it was unclear if the victim met the criteria of a disabled adult necessary to support a felony charge.

Hallenbeck was fired following the incident. He pleaded no contest on Monday, and officially signed away his paramedic certification.
