Fire dept. using helmet cams to train and recruit

The department uses the cameras to teach new volunteers about what to do while on a call and also for promotion purposes

HARVEY, New Brunswick — The Harvey Fire Department is using technology to give people a closer look at what they do.  

The department has a pair of small video cameras that are attached underneath the helmets of two firefighters. 

Chad Colwell, who has been a volunteer firefighter in Harvey for 15 years, said he and another firefighter bought the cameras about three years ago, after seeing them used on YouTube. Colwell said he thought it was a great opportunity for both promotion and learning.
