“The first time we used The Rookie I had no question that this was a piece of equipment our department needed. The Rookie hose roller is great when you are dealing with long hose lays and hose tests. It’s helpful in both the manpower issues and just plain time issues that most departments face.”

“Within a couple days of talking to Deschutes River Manufacturing, we had The Rookie Sidekick and Reloader. After our department tried The Rookie Sidekick, we felt it was a piece of equipment we had to have.

We recently upgraded to 5-inch hose on our engines. The Rookie Sidekick has helped us out with that for two main reasons: One is safety – the larger diameter hose is heavier, harder to handle and more likely to cause back injuries. And the other is time – The Rookie does a better job getting air out of the hose for redecking it.

The Reloader takes a couple of people out of the equation when redecking hose. Now we don’t need as many people on the ground, and we’re back on the truck a lot faster.

It’s easy to operate and user friendly. We’re also rolling 3-inch, and 1-3/4 inch hose – all with one unit.”
Gary Spoor, Assistant Chief
South Bend, Washington Volunteer Fire Department
