Firefighters rescue woman before car slips into pond

Crews secured the car with chains to keep it from going under water or overturning; the woman was cold and startled but OK

KIMBERLING CITY, Mo. — Firefighters rescued an elderly woman after driving her car into a pond Wednesday morning.

KY3 reported that firefighters had to keep the car from sinking so they could rescue her. Crews secured the car with chains to keep it from going under water or overturning. They were then able to remove the woman from the car, according to the report.

The woman’s legs were in the water, but she did not complain of any injuries. Firefighters said she was cold and startled but otherwise OK, according to the report.

The car had no other occupants and fire crews were on the scene for 30 minutes.
