VANDENBERG AIR FORCE BASE, Calif. — Authorities say a 150-acre wildfire has prompted evacuations at Vandenberg Air Force Base and is moving toward homes in Santa Barbara County.
County Fire Capt. David Sadecki says base employees were ordered to leave certain buildings after the fire was reported. The blaze is burning out of control.
Sadecki says no structures are immediately threatened, but the fire is moving southwest toward houses off base property. It was not clear how far the homes are from the fire or how many evacuations were ordered.
Power lines are down and electricity outages have been reported.
The base is about 60 miles northwest of Santa Barbara.
