JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — An 8-year-old Florida girl has died after reportedly being struck by a fire truck on Saturday.
Witnesses say the girl was walking with friends when she was scared by an unleashed dog and ran into the street, according to Action News Jax. The incident was captured on surveillance video, which has not been published.
Neighbors said the child ran directly into the path of the Jacksonville Fire Rescue truck, which had its lights but not its sirens on, and that the firefighter who was driving was “visibly upset” after the incident, Action News Jax reports.
The Jackson Fire Rescue Department said the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office was investigating and that it could not comment on the incident, according to WJXT.
