Driver killed in head-on collision with Ind. fire engine

MADISON, Ind. — A woman was killed after being involved in a head-on collision with an Indiana fire engine driving the wrong way on August 5, 2023.

The Indiana State Police reported that a Hanover Fire Department fire engine was responding to the area of Clifty Hollow Road on Hanover Hill to assist in clearing dried mud off the roadway on Saturday morning, WHAS11 reported.

The fire engine was traveling east in the westbound lanes of Clifty Hollow Road when it struck an SUV.

The driver of the second vehicle died at the scene. The driver of the fire engine was not injured.

The Indiana State Police is investigating the crash. Alcohol and drugs are not suspected to be factors.
