Mass. city closes streets for funeral of Boston firefighter

QUINCY, Mass. — Hancock Street between Beach Street and Standish Street will be closed intermittently from about 10 a.m. to about 10:45 a.m. Monday morning for the funeral of Boston Fire Lt. Paul Hoban, of Quincy.

The funeral will take place at St. Ann’s church. Hoban died June 16, he was 57. Hoban joined the Boston Fire Department in 1989.

He was a United States Navy veteran, and 1979 graduate of Xaverian Brothers High School in Westwood. Hoban was also a first responder during the 2013 Boston Marathon Bombing. He was most recently stationed in the Dorchester neighborhood of Boston at the Engine 16, Ladder 6 station on Gallivan Boulevard.
