BOSTON — Big Brothers Big Sisters of Massachusetts Bay honored fallen Boston firefighter Michael Kennedy at its annual Big of the Year Gala on Thursday evening.
Kennedy was a Big Brother for seven years and spent time with 14-year-old Alex Beauzile; he took him to sporting events and amusement parks.
Kennedy, along with Boston Fire Lt. Edward Walsh, was killed in a 9-alarm fire on Beacon Street in Boston’s Back Bay on March 26. “In choosing Michael Kennedy as our Big of the Year, we celebrate seven years of friendship,” Wendy Foster, CEO of Big Brothers Big Sisters of Massachusetts Bay, said. “Like many of our incredible Bigs, Michael inspired his Little to reach higher, walk taller, dream bigger and grow stronger. We are humbled and privileged to be part of the friendship he and Alex shared.”
