SURREY, U.K. — Firefighters had to free a boy’s index finger after he got it stuck in a toy fire truck.
Mirror.co.uk reported that Rhyley Benneyworth, 4, was playing with the toy when his finger got stuck in a water hole at the rear of the engine. His mother took him to a hospital to see if they could free his finger, but they were unsuccessful.
Surrey Fire and Rescue Service sent one engine to the hospital to free the boy’s finger.
“His finger was really swollen so we had to make several incisions in the plastic using a saw,” firefighter Ian Guest said. “A couple of cuts relieved the pressure and we were able to release his finger. The boy was exceptionally brave for his age.”
The boy told crews he wanted to be a firefighter when he was older, so they gave him a tour of their fire truck.
“They were absolutely amazing and Rhyley was so brave,” his mother said. “He didn’t flinch at all even though they were taking the fire engine apart with a saw. He put so much trust in them … He has gone to bed with the biggest smile on his face.”
