REDDING, Calif. — A photo of a group of firefighters taking a break to sleep on the ground while battling the Carr Fire has gone viral.
WCVB reported that Redding resident Richard Tuggle found the firefighters sleeping on his property when he returned to check on it after evacuating earlier in the week.
Tuggle decided not to disturb them and instead snapped a photo, and a Facebook post of the image has been shared over 100,000 times.
“This picture literally brings me to a whole new respect for the firefighters. After days of fighting this fire, they curled up and slept on the ground in my neighborhood just to do it again tonight,” the caption reads. “Thank you for saving my home and running into a fire that the rest of the town is running from. You all are true heroes.”
